Be a hero for kids with cancer

Pippel Insurance is proud to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help children overcome cancer.

According to St. Baldrick’s: “With their bald heads, St. Baldrick’s shavees become walking symbols of solidarity with kids fighting cancer. More important, the funds they raise are saving lives.

One young survivor told us recently, “The last three years of my life are a gift from St. Baldrick’s and other donors who funded the research that is not just keeping me alive, but helping me enjoy life.” Many others are not as fortunate, and we all work for the day no child or teen will die of cancer.

In 2009, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation awarded over $12 million in grants to pediatric oncology research experts, as well as funds to train new researchers.”

To find out how you can support St. Baldrick’s, visit their website at www.stbaldricks.org.

In loving memory of Rachel Ferree, 2006.

Strong Business Leaders Can Help Build a Strong Community

Good for your community. Good for your business.

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”  -Henry David Thoreau

Making positive contributions to your local community will certainly help transform it into a better place to live and work. But, did you also know that giving back to your community is a social responsibility that brings a broad range of benefits? Improve your reputation within your community and you may even have better luck with local customers and find it easier to recruit more competent and dedicated employees.

LEND A HELPING HAND

Get Involved: Participate in your local chamber of commerce and attend community meetings. Make your voice heard and share your thoughts and ideas.

Volunteer: Your time, talent and enthusiasm are valuable resources. Organize a local park or trail clean-up day. Plant flowers and maintain community gardens. Volunteer at schools, shelters, food banks and soup kitchens.

Know Your Community: Take the time to get to know your local customers, business owners and neighbors. Their stories are important. Build lasting relationships.

Support Local Businesses: Take pride in your community and shop locally whenever possible.

Support a Good Cause: Organize or participate in food drives, community and local school events and fund raisers for causes that you feel good about supporting.

Insurance for Small Businesses

Operating a small business is hard work.
Taking care of your insurance needs doesn’t have to be.

Managing a small business is hard enough without worrying about suffering sizable financial loss, or worse, due to unforeseen events and various risks. But with proper planning, you can take the necessary steps to protect yourself and your business.

INSURANCE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

Insurance Analysis: An insurance analysis will help you determine your risks, and insurance needs. Here are just a few areas of exposure for you to consider: property, time element, crime, automobile, liability and worker’s compensation.

Finding the Right Insurance Agency: Do some research to determine the right insurance agency to meet your needs. A good insurance agency will be proactive in making sure you are insured properly as your business changes over time; will properly explain coverage you may be required to carry; will respond to your inquiries and requests promptly; will help you through an audit and explain how changes in your business (i.e. sales/salaries) will affect your insurance and annual audit.

Property Insurance: Obtain appropriate coverage to protect your property against various losses, including theft and disaster.

Business Liability Insurance: Protect your business in the event of a lawsuit for personal injury or property damages, and cover damages and legal costs from a lawsuit.

Health and Life Insurance: To help recruit and retain good employees, and help keep them healthy and productive, offer a comprehensive health insurance policy. Adding a term policy will provide added value to employee benefits.

“Key Man” Insurance: Protect your business in the unfortunate event that you lose a partner or key employee. Insuring yourself will also safeguard your spouse and family.

As always, feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Our Community: Boys and Girls Club

Pippel Insurance is proud to support the Boys and Girls Club in their mission to empower and inspire the diverse youth of Alaska.

According to the Boys and Girls Club:
“In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.”

Many of the youth in Alaska could benefit from your help. To find out how to volunteer, place a donation or learn more about the Boys and Girls Club of Alaska visit www.bgcalaska.org .
